Tear Down These Walls!

I have been noticing lately the foolishness that seems to crowd my social media sites, news feeds and IG.

  Butts and Breasts

Niggas and Bitches

Horoscopes and Bouncing Babies

Money over Everything

So-called “life goals” that lead to nowhere

This translates= I’ve been hurt, I’m searching for satisfaction, I’ve built walls, I don’t believe in myself, I don’t think I’m pretty, I’ve made mistakes, I’m pathetic, I need money, I want someone to want me, I was born this way, I’m mad at the world, I want happiness.

My heart breaks for my generation. But the truth is, at one moment or another, I was in that exact place that some of the people I “follow” have been. I understand this desperate need for attention, to be loved, to be heard and noticed, to feel unimportant and unappreciated, to think that no one cares or understands. Yes, I completely understand the mind-set but that does not mean that it can not be changed.

What really is this thing called life all about. We born, live, and die. We’re happy, sad, angry, we eat, sleep, drink, we love, lose, and yearn…

Some of us humans walk around day by day, sunrise to sunset, without knowing what we are truly meant to be. We are stuck in our boxes of comfortability. We establish and possess norms that society sets and we, as people, accept. Most of which are untrue and although these “truths” may be fallacies little to no one chooses to challenge them.

So here’s the truth. #1 We, humankind, were made in the image of God. This is a god who is great, powerful, beautiful, kind, and all the other wonderful characteristics that our human brains can understand and then more. Being that we were made in God’s image, we reflect His characteristics. We are great because we come from greatness, we have power because we come from a god who is all powerful, etc. Because we establish God’s characteristics then there should be no need to possess or reflect norms and customs that society establishes and weighs down on us.

You are NOT a nigga, you are needed.

You are NOT a bitch, you are beautiful.

You do NOT have to over obsess on your body, you are perfect.

You do NOT have to change yourself to satisfy someone else, you are great.

No one or no thing can tell you more about yourself than you already know.

Nothing and no one on this earth will ever make you truly happy, only God can do that.

Just because you made a mistake does not mean that all your dreams have been deferred.

Truth #2 We Can The World. Once we flush out these lies that used to cloud our judgment about ourselves, then we can try to help others throw away the same lies that tend to cling and linger on them as well.

So go ahead, tear down those walls!
